What a mixture of a day, weatherwise. For the first 6 or 7 holes the sky was almost totally cloud-covered, and with the chilly breeze it seemed we were in for a very bleak day. However, the clouds finally gave way to blue sky and the remainder of the game was very pleasant.
The field was a disappointing 66 (54 Men and 12 Ladies), twenty-five fewer than the same game last year, which may have been partly caused by players anticipating a very large field and a slow day. It always pays to check how the Timesheet is going if you are in any doubt.
The Course is really struggling because of the lack of water and the Preferred Lie was most welcome to make the game more enjoyable. On the business end of the hole, the Greens were in great shape and a pleasure to putt on.
It was the type of morning when players went straight to the boiling urn on arrival and the lunch choices hit the right spot also.
A 37 and two 38’s were good enough to take the main trophies. Pam Lane’s was a 4-shot win but Wayne Delaney had to take a countback to claim his. Ken Johnson pulled out a top shot to put the ball 133cm from the Pin to win the Approach on the 7th hole.
Photos.
1. Concentration always paid off for Ron, especially in getting back out of the dam today.
2. Does the placement of this club need looking into, or is it an optical ‘delusion’?
3. Let’s hope Allan is really enjoying his golf and that look is just concentration.
4. It can’t be idle chatter as there’s only a small field today.
5. Winners are grinners, but not all grinners are winners Barry. Well not today anyway.
The next game is at Toowoomba City on Monday 27th May. It is an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is now out.
