Event 16 – Sandy Gallop

It was quite cool until the cloud cover allowed the sun to warm things up and then perfect conditions prevailed.

The field today was 72 (58 men and 14 ladies) down 36 from the first game this year and this was surprising in that there were good reports on the condition of the Course. One former member rejoined.

Paths had to be used by buggies on Saturday, but this condition was removed today, and with care the softer areas were easily avoided though many parts of the Course were still heavy. The Greens were good to putt on as long as you were not trying to stop some of them on slopes.

It was a bonus to have access to the Urn again and the hamburger lunch was well received and no one missed out this game.

Angie Arumugam and Paul Mahoney with another win today, and a first in 2021 for David Noe. Sorry you all missed a chance at a Pin Shot on the 8th hole, but the Marker tube didn’t make it to the Course. Competition for the trophy on the 18th was keen, but it would have taken a top shot to beat the long approach of Lorraine Videroni’s which finished just right of the cup.

Photos.

1. Would they, or would they not, share the Pin Shot balls after Rod’s shot?

2. A lot of care was needed to the right on this hole, Doug discovered.

3. Peter Roche would have been watching the roll here before his putt.

4. David did not need this putt as he had a two-shot buffer for a win at day’s end.

5. Ken wanted a good shot here as he wasn’t having all that great a day.

The next game is at Esk on Monday 19th July. It will be an 8.30am Shotgun start. The Timesheet is now out.
